|Sunday, September 5|
September 5th is our community’s Art in the Park. Thank you in advance to Tim Haston, who has offered to cook his famous BBQ again as an EYC/Youth fundraiser. We always need lots of helpers for this fun day in the park.
Let Polly know if you’re able to assist.
Make plans to come enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch with your St. Luke’s family and support our local arts community.
Sunday, September 19 has been designated as “Recovery Sunday” in the Diocese of Alabama. The Department of Recovery Ministries, Not One More Alabama (NOMA) and Birmingham’s Addiction Prevention Coalition (APC) have partnered to bring The Journey: A Series on Addiction and Recovery to Huntsville and North Alabama.
The series will begin with dinner and keynote speaker Nic Sheff on Friday, September 17 at the historic Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center in Huntsville, AL. Tickets are $20. The first 208 people to purchase a ticket will enjoy a casual dinner catered by Urban Cookhouse at Merrimack Hall followed by keynote speaker Nic Sheff.
Nic’s heartbreaking struggle with substance use disorder and inspiring story of recovery is the subject of Beautiful Boy, a major motion picture starring Timothée Chalamet as Nic and Steve Carell as Nic’s father David. The film, which earned Chalamet Golden Globe and SAG nominations, is based on Nic’s New York Times bestselling memoir, Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines, and David’s bestseller of the same title.
NOMA’s annual End Addiction HSV Walk will be on Saturday.
